Tonight you'll see showers and thunderstorms develop between 8 and 10 p.m. as a warm front pushes north through the area. These storms will be scattered and elevated (meaning they're forming high in the atmosphere), but with strong instability aloft, a few could still produce large hail. By Monday morning, things clear out, but that's just the calm before the heat arrives. Highs Monday will hit 97°F with humidity that'll make the heat index feel closer to 100 to 110 degrees. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for your area.

The setup here is a classic warm-season pattern. A warm front is moving in from the south, bringing that tropical airmass with it. Behind that front, air is very stable (capped) Monday afternoon, which shuts down storm chances early in the day. But then a cold front pushes in from the west Monday evening, and as it arrives, it's going to dig under that warm air and destabilize it again. That's when storms fire up again Monday night and beyond. The upper atmosphere is also shifting, which helps break that cap and allow stronger updrafts.
